Off the Shoulder Dress in Georgetown
One of my favorite things to do on the weekends is to head down to Georgetown for some fun in the sun. Nothing beats strolls along the Potomac River, overpriced lunch, and gallivanting through the shops on M Street. Weekend adventures are always best when spent with a friend - so on days when I don't feel like sharing Georgetown's narrow sidewalks with tourists, I swing by my friend Kate's apartment for wine and girl talk in her courtyard.
For today's look, I'm wearing a super feminine AEO off the shoulder dress. When I first laid eyes on it's romantic ruffle sleeves, I knew I had to have it. The cinched waist and flare bottom provides a flattering shape and makes this dress a perfect option for the spring and summer seasons. I'm also a fan of the lightweight material, as I like to wear breathable clothing during warmer months.
I love how much this dress accentuates my shoulders, so I decided to throw my hair up for this look. If my Instagram is any indication, I think it's safe to say that braid buns have become my latest obsession. Aside from the fact that it's a fool-proof way to stay cool, the braid bun is the most effortlessly sophisticated box braid hairstyle I've worn. I'm always looking for a reason to wear one.
Georgetown's iconic cobble stone streets are gorgeous, but they're not the easiest to navigate in uncomfortable shoes. I always make it a point to ditch my heels in anticipation for where the day's activities may take me. My Madewell Boardwalk sandals are perfect for a day in Georgetown because they're stylish and comfortable - optimal for long distance walking. Get the look below.
